Per the NC General Assembly bill 115C-174.26 (“AN ACT TO BROADEN SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION BY STUDENTS IN ADVANCED COURSES…”), the state of NC will provide payment for AP and IB exams for students enrolled in those courses.
The IB Diploma Coordinator will register all DP students for their IB exams by no later than 15 November each year for the corresponding May exam session. The registration process will include written student verification of the accuracy of the registration.
In accordance with state legislation, the State of North Carolina pays all registration and exam fees for IB students registered in courses for which they will test the following May. As such, students and families incur no cost for IB exams.
However, in the event of any of the following situations, students will be required to remit full payment (approximately $120) for each relevant examination subject:
Exceptions to the preceding conditions due to critical and unusual extenuating circumstances must be approved by the IBO or the Millbrook, WCPSS or NC testing administration.
Students who make changes to exam registration(s) after the registration due date of 15 November will incur late fees for each subject registration amended, including the Extended Essay. Specific late fees are dependent on the date of the change.
All money due for the above reasons will be submitted our finance office as a student financial obligation until paid by, possibly impacting MHS graduation and other school events and opportunities. All fees collected due to the above actions will be remitted to Wake County Public Schools for disbursement to the appropriate state agencies.
